About Cycling Without Age

How it Started

Cycling without Age started in Denmark in 2012 as a way to get older adults on bikes again.  It has since spread to more than 50 countries with chapters in both Vilas and Oneida counties.  The group schedules many events throughout the area to offer free rides to people on trishaws, three-wheeled motor/pedal powered bikes with pilots behi

Cycling without Age started in Denmark in 2012 as a way to get older adults on bikes again.  It has since spread to more than 50 countries with chapters in both Vilas and Oneida counties.  The group schedules many events throughout the area to offer free rides to people on trishaws, three-wheeled motor/pedal powered bikes with pilots behind and passengers up-front for views of the community and nature.  



Who do we serve?

 Cycling Without Age brings the amazing feeling of riding a bicycle to those who are not able to pedal on their own.  People can experience the beautiful outdoors and ride through neighborhoods that spark fond memories.   The trishaws can go just about anywhere.  In Wisconsin, they are legal vehicles and allowed to go on the roads just li

 Cycling Without Age brings the amazing feeling of riding a bicycle to those who are not able to pedal on their own.  People can experience the beautiful outdoors and ride through neighborhoods that spark fond memories.   The trishaws can go just about anywhere.  In Wisconsin, they are legal vehicles and allowed to go on the roads just like regular bicycles.  But the best routes are low-traffic areas such as side streets or trails through parks.

Wonderful volunteer pilots are trained to safely operate an e-assist trishaw to bring the joy of cycling to those who are not able to pedal on their own. Pilot training includes rules of the road, trishaw handling skills, overview of the trishaw, best practices for maintenance, how to make each and every ride a complete joy, and sensitivi

Wonderful volunteer pilots are trained to safely operate an e-assist trishaw to bring the joy of cycling to those who are not able to pedal on their own. Pilot training includes rules of the road, trishaw handling skills, overview of the trishaw, best practices for maintenance, how to make each and every ride a complete joy, and sensitivity training to help recognize and communicate with people of all abilities. 


Pilots must be safe cyclists, reliable detail-oriented, and kind, while meeting minimum requirements including positive background checks.
